Ex-It Bites frontman Francis Dunnery coming to Exeter Phoenix (news)
14th December 2009Guitar virtuoso and original It Bites frontman Francis Dunnery is coming to the Exeter Phoenix for an intimate show next year.
It Bites achieved initial success during the 1980s, charting with the single Calling All The Heroes in 1986.
During their lifetime, the band became extremely successful - able to fill the Hammersmith Odeon in London and undertaking tours with The Beach Boys and Jethro Tull.
Following the band's split, Francis Dunnery re-located to the USA, recording a series of solo albums including Welcome To The Wild Country, Fearless, Tall Blond Helicopter, Let's Go Do What Happens, Man and The Gulley Flats Boys.
Francis has also recorded sessions with Robert Plant, Lauren Hill, Santana, and Ian Brown.
In 2005, he released the Gulley Flats Boys double album. The record is autobiographical in that it centres on his childhood and growing up (Gulley Flats, which is actually spelled Gulley Flatts, is the name of the housing estate in Cumbria where Dunnery was born).
Dunnery will be playing all the songs from the Gully Flats Boys, as well as original It Bites classics and some new tracks, at the Phoenix on February 20, 2010. Call 01392 667080 for booking details.
