Isy 'Dobby from Peep Show' Suttie coming to Exeter Phoenix (news)
11th December 2009Isy Suttie, best known for playing Dobby in Peep Show, is coming to the Exeter Phoenix next year.
One of the most innovative acts to emerge on the circuit in recent times, Isy's gloriously silly and twisted songs, stand-up and stories have drawn comparisons with Victoria Wood and Tom Lehrer.
As well as the national circuit and the Comedy Network she's a regular at character and sketch nights, including Robin Ince's Book Club.
She was a regular contributor and performer on Radio 1's The Milk Run, and appeared on Radio 4's 28 Acts in 28 Minutes and Mitch Benn's Crimes Against Music.
TV credits include stints on the CBBC Channel, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Holby City; Mary Shelley in The Trouble With Love; sketches in The Incredible Will and Greg; and, of course, the recurring character Dobby in Peep Show.
She also writes for the popular teenage drama Skins under the guise of 'comedy consultant'.
Last year, Suttie was nominated for Best Female Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards for playing Dobby and more recently was nominated for Funniest Woman in the 2010 Loaded Lafta Awards.
Next up, she will appear as a waitress called Kiki in new BBC2 restaurant-based sitcom Whites starring Alan Davies.
Isy Suttie is at the Exeter Phoenix on January 31. Support comes from Hackney Empire New Act of the Year winner Fergus Craig. Call 01392 667080 for booking details.
