Phrased & Confused tour coming to Exeter (news / video)
15th April 2009A quadruple bill of music and words is set to visit Exeter when the Phrased & Confused tour hits the Phoenix on May 14.
Expect bite-sized chunks of songwriting genius and poetic wit and beauty, guaranteed to stop you in your tracks and command your total attention.
First up, the blissed out orchestral pop of beautiful Canadian folk collective Woodpigeon, described by The Guardian as ‘Canada’s best kept secret - the most unjustly overlooked band in Canada’ and by The Times as ‘Bloody marvellous’.
They're followed by the darkly satirical poet Murray Lachlan Young, whose playful command of the English language and love of the absurd have won him a regular spot on Radio 4’s Saturday Morning Live and legions of fans, including Neil Tennant who rates him as ‘the best since Betjeman’.
Then enjoy the atmospheric poet Aoife Mannix and musician Janie Armour with their beautiful, haunting mix of poetry live accordion and sampled sounds.
And finally, there's the laugh-out-loud Dead Poets, a cheeky fast-paced mash-up of sharp-eyed MC-ing and poetry courtesy of MC Mixy and Mark Grist.
Tickets cost £10/£8 on 01392 667 080 and www.exeterphoenix.org.uk
