Jeremy Hardy to star in Minack's first ever comedy evening (news)
02nd April 2009Jeremy Hardy will star in the Minack's first ever stand-up comedy evening.
According to the Minack website: 'Jeremy wants to be the first comic to do stand-up at Minack - so he will'.
Described by The Guardian as 'one of the sharpest comedians on the circuit', Hardy's live show could be called an extravaganza were it not for the fact that nothing happens.
He comes on, talks for a while and then goes off again.
He doesn't walk about. He doesn't even take the microphone out of the stand.
In fact "show" is a bit of an overstatement. But he does say quite a lot, most of it coherent. And he means well, which is the main thing.
Jeremy’s perhaps best remembered as a younger man, but there is nothing he can do about that now. Still alive and able to speak for lengthy periods, this will not be so much a one-man show as an under-staffed cavalcade.
Jeremy is now an essential member of the News Quiz and can be heard regularly as a guest on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue and Just a Minute.
Catch him in action at the unique cliff-side, open-air Minack at Porthcurno on Wednesday, May 20 at 8pm. Tickets cost £15 on 01736 810181 and www.minack.com
